Empowered Dance Network

Evolving dance through science and shared experience

Who we are

We are a global community of dancers, teachers, and dance leaders who work together to turn research and lived experience into things that actually work in the studio.

We are done with research staying on paper. We make it usable. Real studio tools, built through shared experiences, and collaboration.

Upcoming collaborative workshop for teachers

Sunday 24th May

Stockholm, Sweden

Why we're here

Let’s be honest.

There’s plenty of research.
Plenty of guidelines. Plenty of “best practice.”

And still we ask:

  • What does this actually look like in my class?

  • How does this show up in rehearsal, training, or leadership?

  • What happens when real life doesn’t match the textbook?

At the same time, many of us have been in dance long enough to know —
we’ve discovered things that work.

  • Ways of creating meaningful learning experiences.

  • Ways of leading with clarity and care.

  • Ways of training with confidence and agency.

Those practices grow stronger when they’re shared, questioned, and built on.

That space — between research, lived experience, and honest exchange — is where we live.

Empowered Dance Network is where we bring those worlds together.
We try things. We talk about them. We refine them.

And we build better practice — together.

This community is for people who…

  • Are curious and open to learning

  • Enjoy sharing their work for others to use

  • Value dialogue, reflection, and true collaboration

  • Are interested in growing with others

This community may not be for you if…

(And that’s okay.)

  • You’re looking for a single “right way” or method to follow

  • You feel the need to defend or protect your methods

  • You’re not open to hearing perspectives beyond your own

  • You’re seeking authority, hierarchy, or certification rather than shared learning

Empowered Dance Network isn’t about convincing or correcting anyone.
It’s about expanding our practice through collective exploration and support.

How this started

We met on a course. What stood out wasn’t just the theory we were learning, but what happened when we tried things out and then talked about them together.

We explored the science.
We discussed how to apply it in our classes.
We spoke openly about what worked — and what didn’t.
We inspired each other, and saw the impact in our students!

That ongoing exchange is where our practice really grew.

And it’s where Empowered Dance Network began.

The day will include interactive discussion, practical studio work, collaborative exercises, and time for reflection, it includes social breaks and the day will end with  relaxed social event to continue conversations and build connections.

The focus is simple
